Speech Therapy for Children
Helping your child connect, express, and participate – one small win at a time
When your child has big thoughts and feelings but communication feels hard, it can be overwhelming for everyone. We’re here to walk alongside you. Our speech therapy services support children as they build communication skills that matter in everyday life – asking for help, sharing ideas, joining play, and feeling understood.
As an early intervention destination, we don’t see speech therapy in isolation. We offer integrated pediatric therapy services, including ABA, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy, so your child’s care feels coordinated, thoughtful, and centered on who they are – not just a checklist of goals.
What Is Speech Therapy?
Speech therapy supports how children communicate and connect with others. That includes speaking, understanding language, using gestures or alternative communication, and building the foundations for social interaction.
For young children, communication is more than words, it’s about participation. Speech therapy helps children build skills that support daily routines, play, learning, and relationships.
Speech Therapy may focus on:
- Expressive language (sharing thoughts, wants, and ideas)
- Receptive language (understanding words, directions, and questions)
- Speech sound development
- Social communication (turn-taking, joint attention, interaction)
- Early communication skills, including gestures or AAC when appropriate
- Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) assessment, obtainment and treatment intervention
Our goal is to build on your child’s existing strengths and support meaningful progress that shows up at home, school, and in the community.

Our Approach to Speech Therapy
We believe therapy works best when it feels safe, supportive, and engaging for children and caregivers alike.
When you work with us, you can expect:
- Play-based, child-led sessions that keep learning motivating and fun
- Strength-based goals that build on what your child already does well
- Evidence-informed strategies grounded in current research and clinical expertise
- Integrated care with our pediatric therapy teams when beneficial
- Caregiver collaboration, so progress continues beyond sessions
Speech therapy with us isn’t about “fixing” a problem – it’s about supporting skills, confidence, and participation in ways that feel meaningful to your family.
Who Is Speech Therapy For?
Every child develops communication skills in their own way and at their own pace.
Speech Therapy may be a good fit for children who:
- Use few words or gestures to communicate
- Have difficulty being understood by others
- Struggle to follow directions or understand language
- Find it hard to engage in play or social interaction
- Experience frustration when trying to express themselves
- Benefit from additional support alongside ABA, OT or PT services

We also support caregivers who:
- Have questions or concerns and aren’t sure where to start
- Want practical strategies to support communication at home
- Are navigating an early diagnosis or evaluation process
- Value collaborative, transparent care and regular check-ins
If you’re wondering whether speech therapy is the right step, you’re not alone and you don’t need all the answers to begin.

The staff is amazing! Everyone is always very welcoming, helpful, and caring. They make it all very personal, focusing on exactly what our child needs help with and how our family can support those needs also. They make us all feel special. ALL my kids love coming here and sharing their million stories and attending fun events with CWO. My child has made so much progress with developing speech, getting out of his shell, interacting, and communicating his needs. It has been our pleasure to be part of the CWO family!
